The Job Coach project is designed for adults with moderate to severe levels of mental retardation or psychiatric disabilities who want to work in real jobs in local businesses.
Individuals who participate in the program are guaranteed the following basic human rights:
- privacy, confidentiality, humane care and treatment with proper dignity and respect,
- protection against any form of discrimination and mental or physical exploitation,
- appropriate assistance in getting and keeping a paid position in the open job market,
- assistance in finding a job that matches their age, interests and abilities, with the same legal protections as other workers.
Because of the innovative nature of this pilot program, the first participants will be those who are already participating in sheltered workshops or day treatment programs. |
